Arriba La Cumbia parties have been selling out all year and now we up the ante for NYE for a truly rocking, steaming, Tropical, Latino & Amazonian, swinging affair. Hosted by the dons of the global music scene in London The Hackney Globe Trotter and Movimientos featuring two of London’s finest tropical-tastic live bands Los Chinches and Eri Okan, DJs and MCs plus an amazing alternative swing room with the mighty DJs come dancers come cabaret act – The Bees Knees and all happening at the brilliant Rich Mix right in the heart of the East End and London club land. You know this is the one to be at.
The legendary king of Global beats in London – the Hackney Globe Trotter Russ Jones (also of Future World Funk), this year alone he has been hosted parties with Womad in Australia and NZ, Glastonbury, Love Box and the Club Dada closing party year’s Bestival.
Spearheaded by DJ Cal Jader and MC Clem George Movimientos’ mix of block rockin’ Latin underground beats and conscious Latin culture have set fire to venues across the UK this year and set out their stall for a residency at the Rich Mix in 2010.
The mighty Bee’s Knees host the swing palour. As DJs, dancers and all round performers they will provide a great alternative to the Latin frenzy. It’s no wonder these two girls Alia and Jojo are seriously in demand, from the Edinburgh Fringe, Brighton Festival and The Electric Picnic, Lovebox to Mike Leigh films and BBC appearances they are certainly helping to make London swing. Always looking fabulous and with a healthy entourage of classy dancers in tow, they are sure to have the place jumping
The hand picked live bands are perfect NYE entertaiment:-
A full on North-Eastern Brazilian Bloco experience, where Samba and Maracatu is merged with Reggae and heavy Afro-rhythms. With big drums and carnival costumes, it’s an intense fiesta party vibe.

With their roots in Peruvian Cumbia, an infectious mix of traditional Columbian rhythms, Andean and Amazonic melodies with a helping of 60’s psych rock courtesy of electric guitars and organs. Performing their own interpretation of a groove that rocked the Amazon in the 1960’s, throwing in a few classics they are sure to rock the wild east for 2010.
So for NYE when you fancy reaching out for some Psych Peruvian, Samba, Tropical, Latin, Afro, Cumbiaaaaa and Ghettotastic, swing beats (what’s the alternative) you know where to head, no need for a plane, boat or long excursion but east (London) and a short bus ride, bicycle or even by foot……
